Jan 9th – Jenny Hull - Goats are a little different and require a little a bit of extra knowledge. But working with goat keepers be it small holders or bigger herds can be very rewarding. With only 9 veterinary medicines actually licenced for goats in the UK (one of those been water for injection), many drugs are used off-licence.This talk aims to be a very simple guide to goat veterinary medicine for the practitioner covering the common problems such as worms, Johnes, cocci, mange, lice and disbudding. The tips and tricks have been developed over time in practice working with smallholders and bigger commercial herds.

Jan 16th - Penny Watson - An update on liver and pancreas disease in cats: hepatitis, pancreatitis or triaditis? - with a keen interest in all things heppatic and pancreatic in dogs and cats our speaker is also taught a number of our council how to vet and we can attest to her engaging delivery :) a topic those of us in small animal practice will come across with regularlity there are few oppurtuinties to hear such up to date understanding on this topic!

Talking Sheep 2019 - Monday 4th February @ The Badger, Ponteland Buffet at 7.30 for 8.00 start

NEVA are very pleased to support the 10th anniversary of Sheep Veterinary Society's initial Talking Sheep series, supported by MSD Animal Health. These are very sociable evenings of several short presentations on sheep related topics given by local members - and there is still an opening for one more case to join the others already in preparation! No previous experience necessary - and vocal chord lubrication will be provided!! To attend you don't even need any previous experience in sheep - indeed there are several members who turn up every year just to support the, often recent graduate, vets presenting some very interesting cases or disease conditions. If you do have a case, or subject, that you'd like to present please let our local organiser Pam Brown know on

February 26th – Aoife O'Sullivan MVB Cert AVP (ECC) MRCVS Don't waste a good mistake... Learn from it! A combination talk for NEVA/YVN discussing mistakes and lessons learned from them; an opportunity to share your own or simply listen to others doing the same – as they say “A clever person learns from their mistakes, a wise person learns from those of others!”

All meetings are at the Badger in Ponteland unless otherwise stated. please email for further details if required
